Birth

Mazal Tov on your new arrival. Please contact the synagogue office to lets u know the details of the newest member of your family, so that we can share, as a community, in your joy.

Should you require it, details of the Reform Mohelim can be found here.

If you would like your child to be formally welcomed into the community, as well as giving yourself the opportunity to show your thanks for his/her safe arrival, please contact one of the rabbis or the synagogue office to make arrangements for a baby blessing.

 B’nei Mitzvah

As a Jewish teenager, on turning 13 you automatically become Bar/Bat Mitzvah (a son or daughter of the commandment), taking on the responsibilities that this confers and becoming an adult. However, as a community, we like to mark this auspicious occasion by involving the Bar or Bat Mitzvah in both the Friday and Saturday services for the weekend closest to your Hebrew birth date.

Click here for details of our B'nei Mitzvah programme

If for any reason you did not formally mark this occasion at 13 it’s never too late and don’t even feel you have to wait for a second opportunity at 83. We encourage any adult who feels this is a rite of passage they would like to celebrate, however belated, to contact the rabbis to discuss it further.

Marriage

Mazal tov and good luck on your future journey through life together.

If you want a Jewish wedding and would like a rabbi to talk through the process with you and officiate at a ceremony under a Chuppah, please contact our rabbis. In order to be married under our auspices, you will need to be a member of our community.

If you would like Jewish recognition of a same sex partnership, we are happy to help you design and conduct a ceremony fitting for your individual circumstances.

If you are in a couple in which only one of you is Jewish and you would like to talk through your options for marriage with a rabbi, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Bereavement

It’s not always an easy conversation to have, but if you are thinking about your funeral/cremation or the funeral of a loved one and would like to discuss the options, please contact our rabbis. More information on Jewish burial can be found on the JJBS web site.
If rabbinic support is not what you need at this time, please contact our Community Support group who have people with whom you can also talk, many of them professionals in this field.

If someone in your family has recently died, please contact the synagogue office on 0208 446 3244 and JJBS on 020 8989 5252 immediately, so that arrangements can be made for the funeral/cremation and Shiva.
