Classes
The
children are taught in three class groupings. These class grouping are
decided by the Head teacher in consultation with the Parents and this
is generally based upon the age of the child. The children normally
start in the Chicks class, which is mainly for the under three’s.
They then move into the Cygnets class around their third birthday and
move up when space and suitability allow into the Swans class before
leaving FRS Kindergarten to enter their formal education. Although the children are separated for the
main part of the morning we do like all the children to come together
for special occasions such as festivals, birthdays and often at
playtime. The Chicks classroom is directly adjacent to the Cygnets
classroom we are now able to have more flexibility and can allow the
children to mix for some parts of the morning. The Swan children are
housed in our refurbished small hall, however we still try to allow
the children to integrate as much as possible. We have found that
working closely with the children at their own level and within a
group of similar ages is the best way for them to achieve and our new
classroom enables us to do this. This allows opportunities for the
younger children to aspire to the older ones, to promote an awareness
of the needs of the younger children amongst the older children who
learn to nurture others and feel ‘important’ as role models and
also to create a sense of community amongst us all. |
