When Cantor Zoe Jacobs heard that Stephen Glass would be in London for the Music From the Gate of Heaven Concert at Hampton School http://450hall.hamptonschool.org.uk/OscarWebServer.dll/TSelectItems.waSelectItemsPrompt.TcsWebMenuItem_41288.TcsWebTab_41289 she got in touch with him and asked if he would come and work with us at FRS as a large group – both on some new repertoire and possibly also on some repertoire we’ve already sung together.
Stephen is the composer of the piece ‘Od’cha’, which we often (struggle to) sing during Hallel, as it really needs a strong choir presence. As this date is fairly close to Pesach, we will focus on Hallel melodies, including Od’cha, and learn from Stephen in his inimitable fashion. I guarantee he will have you laughing, reflecting on the text, and singing your heart out through the course of the evening. This really is not to be missed.
Other choirs have expressed an interest in joining us, and more information will be coming shortly, but we wanted to get this date in your diary as soon as possible. If you are interested in joining this workshop please contact the synagogue office (020 8446 3244) so that we have a realistic sense of numbers.
